Speck is retired from show but is still the flag horse at the
Racking World Celebration!

The following letter was received from Margie Smith on 12-19-00.

This is with a saddened heart that I am writing this note to you all.
Speck - several times world champion speed racking horse - is being put
to sleep tomorrow morning (Wednesday - 8:00 am central time). The vet
seems to feel that he has had a stroke and it has affected his blood
levels as well as his spinal column. Speck is down and can not get up -
the vet clinic will take his blood levels tomorrow morning before a final
action is taken, if there is an improvement, then they will hold off the
fatal injection. If blood levels remain the same, then we are losing a
great Racking horse as well as a wonderful ambassador to our breed. Speck
will be buried in Waynesboro, TN at the camping cabin of the Skimahorne's.
